SpaceShift Collective is proud to present Deevona Sound System, an outdoor, multimodal music event. Featuring an exciting lineup of artists, musicians and DJs traveling from New York, Los Angeles, Detroit and across Chicago for a high-vibration program spanning electronic music, vinyl sets, experimental soundscapes, spoken word, and ambient rhythms that trace an afternoon arc, toward sunset and culminating in a final moonlit set.

With roots extending from the Indian subcontinent through Southwest Asia and beyond, Deevona Sound System maps a contemporary cartography for art, music, and movement, creating new sounds for a diasporic future.
New sounds accompany new rhythms, and within diasporic areas like the Devon neighborhood, new rhythms can be ancient arrangements tracing back thousands of years. These are not linear structures, but cyclical musical patterns, birthed from poetic meter and dance ritual. In Chicago, dance music is never simply a genre, but a movement in itself, emerging out of necessity and survival, with the dancefloor a site of transformative connection. Deevona Sound System celebrates a group of artists committed to experimental musical practices across and between cultures, generations, and geographies—gathering as a temporary sanctuary for listening, dance, and collective belonging.
